Before I could intercept them, Kat threw herself at Dracon like a rabid chihuahua. It was like watching a disaster in slow motion, and there was nothing I could do about it.

She didn’t know that Dracon’s last thread of control had just snapped.

I gritted my teeth and scooped her up. I was about to run, but Dracon had shoved himself into the living room, and the tip of his tail had twisted around my legs.

“God damn it,” I growled. I threw Kat towards the edge of the living room just as I fell.

Dracon’s piercing roar filled the house again. His tail rolled me over onto my back, his teeth baring at me. Globs of saliva dripped onto my face.

“Dell!

I arched to look at her and said as calmly as I could, “Hey kitten, you need to run and hide now.”

Before she could say anything, Dracon’s hot jaws opened and he snapped me up into his mouth.

The bastard seriously needed a breath mint.

His jaws clamped around me, and I went still, trying not to squirm too much. It was instinct to try to fight out, but if I did that— his dragon would just swallow me.

I could hear Kat screaming on the other side.

This evening had really gone south.

Kat had a husband? And there was a wolf out to get her?

I hadn’t smelled anything outside. That didn’t mean she was lying, though.

Maybe…fuck. I didn’t even know. Maybe the scent of our heat had distracted me.
